The FCS players were able to officially enter the transfer portal this week. I believe the FBS players portal starts after the league championship games.

There were a lot of players enter this week. Seems like I read over 150 entered so far. Keep in mind 24 teams are in the FCS playoffs which start this weekend. Once each team loses more will enter.

We offered three so far. A DB from Lamar, OL from Lamar, and OL from Norfolk. The official first week of the portal season and we offer two OL. What does that tell us.

Also, we have three OL commitments so far. A HS player from the Dallas area, Matt Williams from Northwest Ms. CC and Markell Smith from Jones County JC.

Ty Rawls- DB from Jones County JC said he is coming this weekend.

Saw where he entered the portal. IOL, had offers from Buffalo, NDSU, SDSU, Kent State, Liberty, NIU, and Miami OH among others. Played and started at Penn, 6’4 305. Maybe worth a look, who knows. Also has a younger brother that’s getting interest from big schools too. May not be a bad idea to try and create inroads and relationships with him early. We may not immediately land him but why not have a relationship and say “hey, if things don’t work out at X school, come one down here like your brother did.” Idk. Dead board, just throwing names out for positions we need.

Lost to Omaha? That ain't good

Had a chance to catchup with Dr Berry last night. 21 applications are in for the AD position and are being reviewed by the community committee - no idea who all is on that committee. Afterwards they will give input for the committee that I’m apart of and also take the input of coaches to give recommendations to Dr Berry.

Still expecting to have a new AD in place for the first of the year, but not going to rush through just to have a person in.

Most interesting to me, the posting will not close until filled. Dr Berry said there were some that were interest but didn’t want to be named, but would be open to being a late applicant.

Again, I emphasize that when I get names I will share what I can but not wanting to burn bridges with applicants that may be in play now or in the future, there will be discretion. Information may be scrubbed to be something like -
- mid-major assistant AD with 5 years experience. No La ties, but interned in Texas with someone now affiliated with ULM, etc, etc.

How deep that Bowden connection notebook is. Need an actual ST coach, probably an OL coach, who knows what else. May have some players and coaches leave that we’ll have to replace. Part of this is going to rely on AD selection and how much we can start raising to retain coaches. But no matter the case, we’ve got to see something much better next year.

Well, time for off-season and next year mode. What are the odds we bring in a new ST coordinator? Guess we have about 3.5 weeks before early signing day, think we’ll get any surprises? Hopefully we can keep some key guys out of the portal and build to next year (lol maybe “next year” will actually get here). Maybe we can get some OL and DL here, maybe another relatable WR who won’t drop passes that hit him in the hands/chest. Also wouldn’t mind a big back to use for short yardage. Mostly it would just be nice to see a bowl team next year to prove this school, this whole operation can actually get past the “next year” phase.

Havent seen quit in the team. Lets end on good note. 5 wins wouldnt be complete disappointment.

ULM - 38
USM - 20

They will come in motivated. They are currently 5-6 and looking for bowl eligibility. No offense to USM but I want their season to end the exact second our does. On paper this should be a pretty even match. If you look at the results from common opponents, it's pretty close. We have a little better offense. They have a little better defense. Could be a really fun game to watch. We've split the last times we played in '17 and '18. They hold a 4-2 lead in the series but before '17 the last time we played was in '93.

ULM gets blasted 78-54. We shot a red hot 30% from the field.

So with football almost done, mens and women basketball being crap again, I’m just curious as why no baseball schedule out yet? Anyone have a clue?

Currently southern Miss is -3 for the final game. Started at -2.5. They’ll be motivated to get bowl eligible, wonder if ULM will be motivated about anything at all.

I think we play hard. Still something to play for. To the naked eye Troy should dominate us right. Actually looked into a few numbers. Interesting..

All that to say. If we can get in 3rd and manageable we can move the chains on these guys. Their Offense has been abysmal considering this is only a two loss team. Troy fans said in the offseason if we are leading late in the game and need a stop, VK will get it done. Would be perfect scenario against them right?? Come back home to try and get bowl eligible.. Perfect right? No ULMost this week. Lets do it..

Warhawks have their first representation in the new XFL league. Former DB Adam Sparks was selected by the Vegas Vipers in the 10th round. Sparks transferred to ULM from Missouri where he played in 37 games and recorded 99 total tackles and intercepting three passes. In his lone season at ULM (2021), Sparks recorded 47 tackles with three break-ups.
