Tavian Combs Safety from New Mexico is visiting Dec. 13.

He torn his ACL last year after only playing 5 games. In the 5 games he had 46 tackles. Combs only played one or two games this season. I don’t remember if it was in 2022 or 2021 he was second on the team in tackles. He has two years of eligibility.

Here are the last 5 years of running backs in BV's offense.

2020(Covid year) UAB-Spencer Brown ran for 889 yards in 8 games. An average of 111.1 yards per game.
2021 UAB DeWayne McBride ran for 1371 yards in 13 games. An average of 105.5 yards per game.
2022 UAB DeWayne McBride ran for 1713 yards in 11 games. An average of 155.7 yards per game.
2023 UNM Jacory Croskey-Merritt ran for 1190 yards in 12 games. An average of 99.2 yards per game.
2024 ULM Ahmad Hardy ran for 1351 yards in 12 games. An average of 107.2 yards per game.

Armenta ended the year 116 out of 120 Quarterback in passing efficiency.

So, MBB tweeted the final score from last night. Being pissed off, I responded "our players and the fans deserve better. We've been outcoached all year long." Here's the interesting part: I was immediately followed by Newton Mealer. He is the HC of Jones CC (same place as Missy). He has been a very successful high school and AAU coach and had a 61-26 record in his first 3 years at Jones. He is followed by Missy and her staff and Hartwell. I wonder if Hartwell could be thinking of a Missy 2.0

On a side note, Devon Hancock (ULM Player) liked my tweet as well.

Apparently he was spotted in Monroe over the summer and has some sort of connection to Hartwell. Can you imagine Gregg and his motion wheel offense in fant? I’m hearing from sources this is picking up steam as it is only a matter of time with Richard . You heard it here first.

App State fires HC Clark after a 5-6 season. They’ll start a national search immediately. App says they expect to compete for a conference championship every year.

That’s what every team in the conference does every year. There can be only one and, sorry, App, sometimes it’s not you. And it won’t be you next year either.

Guess I’ll torture myself (again) and watch. We are currently 7 point underdogs at home . Don’t know anything about UTA but Vegas must think we are BAD bc they are also below .500… I’ll throw a couple $$$ on the home team but not really confident.

That’s all you can call it. 5-1 to 5-7: collapse. Doesn’t matter that Vegas had us at 1.5 or 2.5 wins. Doesn’t matter that we beat that in the first half of the season. The end result is we lost the last 6 games of the year, 4 by double digits. That’s failure. Anyone who says otherwise is just coping with that failure. Coaching staff hasn’t been able to eliminate stupid penalties all year, offense has been predictable, WRs couldn’t catch when they needed to. If it weren’t for Hardy our offense would have been just as bad (and maybe worse) as what Kubik put out last year. For all the intensity the team showed in week 2 against UAB, they only matched it maybe one more time against JMU and didn’t come close the rest of the way. It honestly makes me think BV just wasn’t as focused after the revenge game against his old employer.

I’d like to think there will be improvement next year but I’m not sold. Texas state took a step back this year, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to assume it could happen here too, especially if we lose all or the majority of our playmakers. I think there’s a reason teams were wary to make BV a head coach and we saw a lot of them this year. The weird time management and timeout usage, the lack of discipline, the offense being shaky. The only thing that makes me hopeful it’ll get better is that he’s still new to being an HC at this level. Maybe those things can work themselves out with experience, but right now all we can say about his first season is collapse.
