Brighter Future

I figured since Hartwell has been on the job for 1 month he is pretty aware of these numbers. I look forward to running a comparison over the next few years to see on field improvements for our Athletics.

Since 2015 here are our Ws/Ls/W%

Football - 29-66 (30.5%)
Mens BBall - 104-148 (41.2%)
Womens BBall - 49-180 (21.3%)
Baseball - 173-251 (40.8%)
Softball - 174-195 (47.1%)

Combined - 529-840 (38.6%)

What Direction Will Hartwell Go?

Hartwell has hired two women's basketball coaches.

Chanda Rigby at Troy. She came to Troy from a junior college. Her overall record is 192-118. I would say a very good hire.

Kayla Ard at Utah State. She was an assistant at Troy Her overall record is 19-65. I would say a terrible hire.

The question is what direction does he go for our next head coach. If we are looking at a juco coach what about MJ Baker from Eastern Florida State. In six years she is 132-43.

If JH hires another assistant from Troy there is Jennifer Graf. She was head coach at Northwestern State for eight years. Her record was 106-131. Surely Hartwell will stay away from the assistants at Troy after the failure of Ard at USU.

A few weeks ago I mentioned the head coach at UT Tyler. She is 45-16 after two seasons. UT-Tyler is in the sweet 16 of the D2 playoffs.

Bluephi mentioned another D2 coach in Kim Stephens at Glenville State. They won the national championship last year. They are also in the sweet 16 again this year. Her overall record is 189-23. She might be my favorite.

Name question

Maybe one of our legal minded posters can shed some light on this. I know it would be a major pain in the you-know-what, but what if we petitioned the state to change our name to the University of Monroe. As part of the petition, we could claim that ULL acted in bad faith and started marketing themselves as the University of Louisiana, in violation of state law and the agreed upon parameters as soon as the name change agreement was reached. If that were accepted, I do not believe that the state would allow ULL to remain ULL and they would have to change as well.

I'm not saying I would prefer a name change over keeping and actually pushing the branding of ULM, but it would damn sure piss off the coonasses.
