ULM WBB @ Southern Miss (12:00cst ESPN+)

The prediction I've seen is ULM 69 USM68. Given the way our girls tend to play close to the competition, I'd say it should be a very close W. The reason I say that is not because I'm down on the team. Quite the opposite; however, I do not feel that they have not put together a complete game yet. They go into lulls, generally when they are up by a fair margin. They were up by 13 over ULL the other day and in about 5 minutes they allowed them back in the game. Additionally, when it's close near the end they tend get rattled and make careless mistakes/turnovers. I think these ladies have their best basketball in front of them and when they get it all together they will be blowing out SBC teams by 20+. My hope is that they will continue to improve right up until conference tournament time when they are clicking on all cylinders. Until then, I'll just hope for a double digit W against USM.

Possible WBB Transfer

Meloney Thames was a honorable mention All-American for Coach Bilderback last year at Jones CC. She signed with Mississippi State. Before the Lady Bulldogs season started Meloney decided to transfer. She will have two years to play after redshirting this year.

Another player to keep an eye on is Sakyia White, who also played for Jones last year. She signed with Florida State. Through four games she is only averaging 8 minutes a game. Maybe she wants to "come home" to Coach Bilderback. She was first team All-American.

Something Different: Ear Plugs for Malone?

Saw this article about a Saints fan giving up his season tickets because of the sound levels in the Superdome and I automatically thought of the loud music played at Malone Stadium. I like Corey but he’s got some glass around him to dull the sound. There’s been times I couldn’t talk to my wife next to me because it was so loud. I’ve seriously thought about bringing ear plugs next season.

ULM Football how we feeling

We are a little over 5 weeks since BV was named the HC. Im sure some of these could get lengthy. Overall i feel pretty good at what has been accomplished up to this point..

BV Hire - Initially wasnt a huge fan of the hire. The more i dug into his past and the way he i respected by his peers and players, I like it. I also like the fact that he has had on the field success at each of his stops. What he did at New Mexico was impressive. I dont think people realize how bad that team was offensively.

Recruiting - I must say i was beyond impressed what he was able to accomplish in the portal and juco level. This speaks volumes to his message and the way he is perceived by incoming players. Only thing i would have liked to see is a proven ready to play QB. I do believe they want to get this right and we will see one on the roster before fall camp. Dont blame him for just taking anyone. Atleast this is my hope.

Staff - For the most part i think there is a good combination of energetic youth and older wisdom on the staff. Here is my only real concern from this whole process. This is an opinion and im not saying im right. I repeat this is an opinion. When a new HC comes in. Generally they would like to bring "Their Guys". They know what they are about. They know their lingo. They trust them personally. Its a tad concerning that there are people on staff with no prior connection to BV. Atleast from tracing back through their coaching stops. Not concerning from the fact that they arent good coaches or potentially good fits, but when these coaches take other jobs who does BV have out there to bring in as replacements? Fills a bit like Viator in that he just couldnt replace these with quality coaches. Same with TB and the OC. Once again i dont want to make this bigger than it is. Just only semi negative thought ive had up to this point. Other than that im all in and ready for football season!

How you guys feeling as the dust is settling?
