MONROE, La. – Senior Jayden Mount has been named to the Sun Belt Softball Preseason All-Conference team for the second straight year as announced by the Sun Belt Conference on Wednesday morning.

Mount started in 54 games for ULM last season and led the team in RBIs (36), doubles (11), home runs (7) and slugging percentage (.500). She ended the season second on the team with a .302 batting average and 30 runs scored with 49 hits.

The Longview, Texas native started in all 24 conference games for the Warhawks and posted a .364 average with four home runs during the conference slate.

Mount led the Sun Belt last year in assists with 144. She also tied for seventh in the Sun Belt for doubles (11) and ranked 10th in hit by pitch (8).

During the conference tournament, Mount lifted ULM past the number two seed Troy with a three-run homer during the 10th inning. She hit another three-run homer the next day to take down the number three seed UT-Arlington and allowed the Warhawks to advance to the tournament semifinals.

ULM’s memorable run during the conference tournament capped off head coach Molly Fichtner’s first season with the team. The Warhawks finished the season with a record of 14-42 and finished 7-17 during Sun Belt games.

The preseason coaches’ poll has ULM picked to finish ninth in the conference as announced by the Sun Belt on Wednesday morning as well.

The Warhawks open the season up at home on Feb. 7 and 8 with doubleheaders against Stephen F. Austin and Southern. For season tickets, call 318-342-HAWK or visit ULMWarhawks.com.
