ULM got off to a slow start, but a dominating performance led the Warhawks to an 81-72 victory of the Mavericks of UT Arlington.

The Mavericks (23-10, 13-7) got off to a quick 12-0 start. They set the tone early with aggressive defense and a slick inside-out offense. ULM (20-12, 15-5) were finally able to get on the board after nearly 4 minutes thanks to a 3 from Jamaal Samuel. The Warhawks chipped away at the deficit until they finally took the lead at the 9:14 mark of the first half with two free throws by Justin Roberson.

The Warhawks never looked back and led the rest of the game. Although the Mavericks fought to stay in the game with 3-point shooting and 20 offensive rebounds, the defense of ULM returned to last year's form, holding the Mavericks to 25% from behind the arc.

DeMondre Harvey was the savior of the night. His career-high 21 points were exactly what the Warhawks needed. Every starter scored in double digits to assist Harvey.

The Warhawks will move on to the Sun Belt Conference Championship game Sunday at noon, and will face 1 seed Little Rock who defeated UL Lafayette Sunday.

Note: With his 6 assists, Nick Coppola became the all-time leader in career assists for ULM.
