Feels like an early-season must-win for both teams. This begins a crucial stretch of 5 winnable games for the Warhawks, as a win in Lafayette today before returning back home to face a struggling Coastal Carolina team presents a good opportunity to start conference play 2-0.

Cajuns have scored a lot of points this year, but have given up a TON. They come in ranked 36th in scoring offense at 38 points a game, but rank 129th in scoring defense giving up 53 points a game. They give up 315 yards a game rushing, so ULM may be able to find some success in the ground game.

The Cajuns also only average 30.8 yards net punting, which includes the punt and return distance, so ULM may be able to control battle of field position.

This feels like a game where ULM needs to slow it down a little bit, pound the rock, and control time of possession. Gore and Kayin White should be able to have their way behind the excellent guard play the Warhawks have enjoyed so far this season.

Defense will be a bit of a struggle. Marcus Hubbard is projected to get the start as he looks to knock of the rust. There's the potential of 3 or 4 true freshmen playing on defense today, and that's always a concern. Rashaad Harding may get his first collegiate playing time in his hometown today.
