Something Off Topic - with all of the budget woes, I keep finding myself more watchful of what goes on in Baton Rouge. LAHB 101 is one of a knee jerk reaction that caught my attention.
The bill looks to address the horrible shooting incident in the Lafayette movie theater by mandating the installation of metal detectors at all theater venues. This, to me, goes against another HB (house bill) that encourages private citizens to open carry and reduces the requirements for concealed carry. The state legislature, for the most part, have no fore sight to see what prescedent this could set if passed.
My point is if they are so knee jerk reaction oriented about this, it lowers my confidence they wouldn't knee jerk to cut athletics, academics or social services even more just to preserve the $300k for signage improvements in a parish.
