Afternoon kickoff at 2:30 CST. Weather should be pretty decent for this game, as there is only a 10% chance of rain currently and the temperature should be in the low 60's. App. State is a 14.5 point favorite and ESPN gives them a 87.7% chance of winning this game.
App. State is an athletic team, but not as athletic and not as fast as what Memphis presented. I would rate App. State as the 3rd best team we will have faced up to this point (Iowa State and Memphis are 1 and 2 on that list). We match-up well with App. State. Looking at what Coastal Carolina was able to do to them, if we can slow down their run, which Coastal could not do, we will be able to get some stops on defense. Coastal showed that points can be put up against App., and our offense should be able to do that.
The DLine will have to step up again. Right now, Louis has 7 tackles for a loss and 4.5 sacks. He is making things happen quietly. Hopefully he can keep doing what he is doing. Straughter is making teams second guess themselves when it comes to game planning and throwing his way. That helps our defense big time. We need Starks to work to get more pressure off of the edge. We need someone to step-up and create an impact in the middle of our line.
This game will come down to who makes the most mistakes, but more importantly who is able to capitalize off of those mistakes. Our defense will have to step up for us to pull the upset here...we have the ability.
