Hello everyone,
I wish that I was writing this post from Boulder, Colorado but unfortunately I am not. I will be unable to broadcast the next 3 games. Here's the reason why.....
Tuesday night while getting my youngest son Micah ready for his bath time, I discovered he had a bad break out all over his body. We pretty much knew what it was..... Chicken pox! There was a case at his daycare a couple of weeks ago and all parents were alerted but since he had all of his immunizations we were told he would be fine. Well obviously that is not the case. We got him in to the pediatrician at 9 yesterday morning and it was confirmed. My part of the story in all of this comes in that fortunately (or unfortunately in this situation) I have never had chicken pox. Since I've been directly exposed & never had it I was ordered by the doctors to not travel and was placed on antiviral medication to hopefully fend it off. Obviously we could not risk exposure to the basketball team or the other folks on our flights.
So with all of that information our Learfield GM Joe Domingos & I got to work to ensure that the games will still be broadcast locally. Fortunately Colorado is a Learfield school so for tonight's game we will carry their feed & it will be broadcast on KRJO 99.7 & 1680AM ( the station change prompted by WM/Ouachita game being moved to tonight)
We are working with Seattle to pick up their feed for Monday's game from Cheney, Washington as well as working to do the same depending on the opponent for Tuesdays game (Eastern Washington is also a Learfield school so they have been very cooperative in helping us). Both of those games will go back to the normal station KLIP 105.3FM.
While not ideal in that you will not have access to your "home team broadcast" at least the games will still be aired locally. Joe & I appreciate you understanding the craziness & timing of the situation in that this is just something that is out of our control & we could not risk.
I covet your prayers for my son Micah that everything will clear up quickly (since he had his immunizations it is fortunately a mild case) and for me in that I do not get it and that the antiviral medication works.
Thanks again for understanding & Go Warhawks!!!
