With the discussion of athletic director Brian Wickstrom removing the New Mexico game in 2019, I've found out hat this true - but there's a reason for this and it's not due to a "fear" of hosting 6 home games but rather getting bigger games.
As it was told to me by a source close to this discussion, Coach V, Bruno, & Wickstrom want more of a regional schedule and are in talks to have home/home games with MAC, AAC, and CUSA teams - no, NOT La Tech - to make up future dates.
Ideally the schedule would be an opener vs an FCS team, 1 away mid major game, 1 home mid major game, and a guarantee game. That mix could change based on needing to fill the budget but that is the plan going forward.
