After a week's break to look at film, some change in the depth chart could be expected. That does not seem to be the case for ULM football, however, aside from some position changes.
With the team in shells for the first time in weeks, the coaches were able to focus on individual technique in the drills. This was most evident in the Wide Receivers blocking Defensive Backs and the DB's trying to get off the blocks.
The coaches heavily focused on speed and precision. They wanted to make sure the players were still in shape after the week off. The players were forced to run in between drills, not just jog or walk. This led to a (now normal) high energy practice.
Coach Viator got more involved in individual drills than prior practices, especially special teams drills.
On the positive side, Alec Osborne returned to practice for the first time since his ACL injury last year. He wore a non-contact jersey and did not heavily participate in all of the drills, but it was good to see him back in uniform.
The team worked on kickoff drills, trying to find a mix of blockers for the return team. They experimented with Defensive End Nate Link and Linebacker Sterling Doss on blocking duty, mixed in with Wide Receivers, Tight Ends, and secondary members.
Cortez Sisco got some reps at Linebacker alongside a Jared Dunn on second team. First team reps at Defensive Tackle were split between Howard Houston, Colton Moorehead, and David Elias. Nate Link, normally a DE, got work at DT as well.
The team will return to practice Thursday, April 7th at 5 P.M.
