I'm still disappointed with what happened last night, especially with the QB play. That said, I think we need to take a step back and remember that we are early into year two of a rebuilding process and we still have a pretty good way to go, but we've definitely improved. I think we're where most of us thought we would be, yeah? Actually a bit better (record wise anyway) with the FSU cancelation. The running game seemed to find a bit of rhythm last night against one of the faster/better CUSA defenses last night and the defense made some very good second half adjustments that I think will help us in conference play. The passing game...needs help. Bad throws, drops, bad reads, and WRs not tracking balls did not help last night and we should expect better from Smith and Evans. There were also some play calls that were absolutely dumb (not using White or Gore on 3rd or 4th and goal from the 1 was just ridiculous. Or hell, maybe try throwing a fade to someone so that USM doesn't just create a pile of DLs that clog up the designed run lanes). The DBs still need work but a lot of them are young. I think Straughter and Marbles are going to be really good for us, I'm eager to see what Latin does when he gets to play.

Overall, I'm disappointed in the outcome of the game but does anyone think that last year the score would have been better? I'm almost certain it would have been more embarrassing than last night. Let's just try to walk back a bit, realize where we are in the process and see what we do next week.
