Weak-Side Nose Guard (3)
Player should be strong and quick. Size is a luxury, not a necessity. Sacrifice size for quickness. Does not take on double teams often. The Nose Guard will need to be able to penetrate and disrupt, controlling the weak-side A-Gap first.
Strong-Side Tackle (3)
Biggest and strongest player on your defense. Will face the most double teams. Needs to be able to control B-Gap without giving ground. Quickness and ability to penetrate are not as important as ability to hold his ground. Will face double teams, trap schemes, etc.
Strong-Side End (3)?
Quick and powerful, height is a nice bonus. Ability to lock out the Tight End and control the C-Gap. A better pass rusher than the Nose Guard.
Weak-Side End (3)
Best athlete up front, look to convert a Linebacker to this spot. Very little coaching, let him run the line of scrimmage. Excellent pass rusher, seek speed over size. Never takes on double teams. Will need to be able to wrong-arm a kick-out block, but otherwise is free to run.
