TCU is the team I think of when discussing the 4-2-5 defense. Patterson I believe has run this defense for many years. So I looked at TCU starting DL and LBs to see what size they are.
TCU has played 8 games to date.
DE McFarland 8 starts 6-2 250 lbs.
DT Broadnax 3 starts 6-0 300 lbs
DT Bradley 4 starts 6-2 275 lbs
DT Curry 8 starts 6-2 270 lbs
DE Carraway 8 starts 6-4 250 lbs
LB Summers 5 starts 6-2 235 lbs
LB Douglas 3 starts 6-3 215 lbs
LB Howard 8 starts 6-1 210 lbs.
As of this week TCU is 46th in the nation in rushing defense. In the last few weeks we have started a front six of: 231 lbs, 278, 283, 246, 211, and 216. Remember these weights are from over 15 months ago so one would assume we are bigger than the listed weights. Is our problem size or talent?
