Communication and chemistry within units was a major focus of today's practice.
The defensive line was mixed and matched trying to find the right mix for players. This was most noticeable at Defensive Tackle, where players like Howard Houston, Colton Moorehead, David Elias, and others played with a mix of Defensive ends.
Caleb Tucker and Cody McGuire had some reps where they started standing up from the DE position. Cortez Sisco is settling into his role at LB nicely. He spent some time alongside either Braxton Moore or Jared Dunn.
The top 3 quarterbacks were impressive, with all three being more consistent in their throws.
The newest drill worked on was the goal line drill with the ball at the 2 yard line. The QBs were still in pistol or shotgun formation and we're not taking snaps from under center. The offensive line added Devin Jackson as an additional blocker outside Left Tackle Reynolds Baltazar; they also added Tight End Reagan Heddins on the right side of the line. Sometimes he would block, others he would roll out.
The players were more vocal today in support of each other and we're definitely having more fun. It appears they're starting to develop that family feeling the coaches are seeking.
The team returns to practice Friday, April 8th at 3 P.M. before returning Saturday for their second scrimmage of spring at 9:45 A.M.
